Vol. 3 No. 7

50th Anniversary

Marcel et Henri's pates and sausages (above) are a holiday tradition with many families. The company will be celebrating its 50th year in January 2009. Henri Lapuyade, the founder, is still at the helm and goes to the plant every day to supervise production and help with the development of new products.

Marcel et Henri will be kicking off their anniversary celebration by introducing a new line of precooked sausages as well as some new flavors of pate at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco.

Quotable

The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found.
Calvin Trillin
American Journalist, humorist and novelist

Decorate -- then cook

For the McFadden Farms wreaths, swags and garlands, California Bay leaves are harvested from the hills surrounding the farm and gathered into fragrant green wreaths (below). A beautiful decoration at the holidays, and a year-long supply of culinary bay leaves. Another dcor-cooking combo is a McFadden Farms garlic braid.

Jolly stockings

Put some ho-ho-ho into their Christmas stockings with goodies from Savor California.

Chocolate-dipped biscotti from Shelley's Biscotti (below). Loaded with almonds for the chocolate-lover who's also a traditionalist.

When you put Nunes Farms Chocolate Truffle Almonds (below), you can try pointing out that sharing is a virtue.

The TeaRooms tea-infused Organic Chocolate Truffles are cleverly packaged in a little Chinese-style dim sum bamboo basket (below).

Travel solutions

If you need an easily portable milk replacement when youre traveling this holiday season, Meyenberg Goat Milk makes both powdered goat milk and evaporated goat milk.

Cooking away from home this holiday season, and cant imagine doing it without your favorite spices? California Harvests Travel Spice Kit (below) is the perfect solution.

In your holiday pantry

Fabrique Dlices has two new products that are very handy to have on hand in case of unexpected company. A glass of red wine and thin slices of Saucisson Sec or Rosette de Lyon will make your guests feel welcome and you feel relaxed.

Serve with slices of crusty baguette or as part of a quick antipasto platter.
