Beat the heat

Whether you're in New York for the Fancy Food Show, or anywhere else, these beverages will refresh you.

If you have a day off, get a serving of vegetables by starting with a Bloody Mary. I have it on good authority that Sartain's Menu makes the best, below.

When the weather's hot, it's nice to have your coffee cold. The beans for award-winning, 100% Highland Arabica Lanna Coffee are grown in the hill country of Northern Thailand. Four roasts: Breakfast (shown below), House, Espresso (shown below), and French.

Use flavored agave syrup from 21 Missions Organics to make Hazelnut Agave Iced Coffee, below. For a variation, use Vanilla Agave Syrup.

For cocktail hour, California Coast Naturals suggests a Dirty Martin (below), using their Dirty Martini Mix.

Designated drivers can have fun, too, with
Vignette Wine Country Soda. Made from Northern California and Central Coast wine grapes, they have the floral notes of the grapes, but none of the tannins or woody notes – and none of the alcohol. Pinot Noir, Rosé, Chardonnay (below), and California Brut.

Here's a drink that will make you feel cooler just looking at it. Then the taste! A Mojito (below) made with Mint Infused Simple Syrup from Sonoma Syrup Co..

And the winner is.....

A Sofi Award from the Specialty Food Association is an "Oscar" in the food world. These Savor California companies are finalists. The Gold Sofi winner will be announced at a red-carpet event at the New York Fancy Food Show.
