Company's coming!

Company over the holiday season -- expected or not -- can be deliciously entertained with these ideas.

Whether you have overnight guests and want to prepare a special breakfast, you want to make some snacks to go with wine or champagne, or you are hosting a party, these ideas will come in handy.


A breakfast treat from Maisie Jane's California Sunshine Products: Almond Butter, Yogurt, and Fruit Parfait with Almonds, above. Yummy and very healthy.

Another "nutty" breakfast idea is Peanut Butter Granola, above, using Pacific Beach Peanut Butter.

There's all sorts of good stuff in this vegan (without cream cheese) or vegetarian (spread with cream cheese) recipe for Applesauce Cake with Agave Nectar, above, made with 21 Missions Organics.

An easy, healthy and even pretty brunch dish: Savory Egg White Scramble with Curtido and Broccoli, above. Curtido is a new product from Sonoma Brinery.

Serve a granola buffet with the four flavors of Oat Cuisine -- Organic, Cranberry, Oil-Free, and Ginger Pecan -- and/or make Granola Scones, above.

221 Not Found makes Romesco in the traditional Spanish style with roasted peppers, almonds, olive oil, garlic, and herbs. Thick, tangy, crunchy and nutty, it makes a flavorful condiment in Fried Egg Sandwich with Jimtown Romesco, above.


Vignette Wine Country Soda, above, is made with only the juice of California varietal wine grapes -- no alcohol. Celebrate with California Brut and Pinot Noir in the 750 ml size. Individual bottles: Chardonnay, Rosť, and Pinot Noir.

Silk Road Soda, above. Organic Mediterranean refreshers with a bit of sparkle and just enough pure cane sugar to stay true to their heritage. Flavors: Original Mint, Cucumber Mint, Pomegranate Mint.

Passed hors d'oeuvres

Caramel Bacon, below. Make these delectable strips with The Frosting Queens' Caramel Butter Cream Frosting, cut into bite-size pieces, and stand back!

Goat Cheese and Honey with Twigs, below, can be cleverly served in glass candle holders. Use Judy s Breadsticks' Sweet Currant Twigs or Coffee Twigs.

Put a little kick in Smoked Fish Dip, below, with the Hot & Sweet Mustard made by Mendocino Mustard.

It's classic: Mix a little dill weed into cream cheese, spread on a Valley Lahvosh cracker, top with smoked salmon, capers, finely diced red onion and maybe a sprig of thyme. Voila!

For the true olive-lover, the organic olives from California Coast Naturals are the best to serve at your party. Shown below: Sun-Dried Black Olives, Pitted Lemon Olives, and Country Herb Olives.

Party buffet

Elegant, indeed, and tasty, and easy: Elegant Brie is the perfect way to enjoy stress-free holiday entertaining. Creamy brie cheese (rind removed), fresh filling ingredients, and a flaky crust create an hors d'oeuvre that goes from freezer to oven to buffet. Choose from many designs; the one above is the dove.
