After a successful career in the high tech industry, Fahri Diner figuratively returned to his roots in Cyprus.

Fahri’s father has olive groves in Cyprus and makes fine extra virgin olive oil. Fahri had grown up around the silvery groves and the smell in the autumn of olives being crushed for oil. Olive oil was an important ingredient in the Mediterranean foods his family enjoyed.

So, it was only natural that Fahri and his wife Jill would want to have their own olive groves. On a beautiful hillside in Sonoma County’s famed Alexander Valley, they grow Manzanillo olives and wine grapes, including Bordeaux varieties, Viognier and Chardonnay. Check their website for the first release of the Skipstone Ranch Vineyards wines.

Most Manzanillo olives are bottled to be eaten whole, and olive lovers prize their delicious flavor and low oil content. But Fahri is passionate about the virtues of the Manzanillo, and he has chosen to use it as the primary olive for his ultra-premium oil. Ten percent of the blend is Mission and Sevillano olives.

Their 500 olive trees are picked in the morning and stone-milled and cold-pressed the same afternoon, to prevent the fruit from gathering any moisture that would dilute their taste. The oil is unfiltered so that the full taste of the fruit is in the bottle.

The Skipstone Ranch Olive Oil has earned the distinguished Extra Virgin certification by the California Olive Oil Council.

Skipstone Ranch Olive Oil was chosen by Food And Wine Magazine as one of the "Top Six Extra Virgin Olive Oils Produced In California." The magazine evaluated 65 California extra virgin olive oils for its Olive Oil Taste Test; winners were announced in the November 2005 issue. Skipstone Ranch Olive Oil is described as "fruity and spicy with a long, green-olive finish."
